Hein & Ruth

On Saturday 3 March after an engagement of about 15 months(!), Ruth & Hein got married!!  For those of you who dont know, Ruth is my sis in law, and Hein… well Hein is my new heavy.  They got married at Makiti, a lovely wedding venue near Krugersdorp, so we all flew up for the occasion. What a party!! Ruth was beaming and looked like a princess. Hein, he looked quite snazzy himself…  But what struck me, was the two of them as a married couple. Yes I know, the bride & groom are always over the top with hapiness, but there was something else with this two that made that hapiness just that much more special.

Hein & Ruth, thank you for the privilege of being part of your special day. It was indeed an honour to share it with you.May your life ahead be blessed with love, hapiness, and hopeufuly pair or two of pink feet in the future….

Enough said, here are a few shots:

PS….. I’ll be adding a few shots more as time goes on. This is gonna be a big post…

An afternoon at the Beach

As most of you know, we had a bit of a heat wave here a few weeks ago. During that time, I decided to go down to Strand beach to take a few shots. Usually not a bad choice if you want to take  a few landscapes and blend it a bit with an urban feel. The mistake I made was to sleep late that Saturday and drive out in the afternoon.

When I got there, the beach was packed. There were people everywhere, and there was no way that I would’ve been able to do what I set out to do. At first I was a bit peeved at myself, I mean, duhh Schulze, of course the beach will be flooded with people. Its 35 degrees Celsius in the shade.  But I drove all the way out here, so I was not going to go home empty-handed. So I took the camera and started strolling. And instead of taking the landscapes I set out to take, I  brought the people  into the shots.

So here’s a few shots of that day, I hope you enjoy it!

Haika!

For those of you who don’t know already, our family grew with one about two weeks ago. His name is Haika and he’s a feisty 8 week old Jack Russel. After another attempted break-in, Bernice finally gave in to my requests for having a dog. And now she’s the one that cannot get enough of him….

Anyhow, here’s  a few pics I took of Haika when we just bought him. Cheers!!

Winelands & Horses

Photography (as life) can sometimes take funny turns with you. A few weeks ago, I decided to drive out to Stellenbosch for an afternoon to make a few shots. My plan was to do some research in the week on spots to go & photograph, but I never got around to it. So when I left the when I left the houSe that Saturday, I was totally unprepared.

That being the case I drove out to a spot I knew. Pretty soon though I got frustrated and decided to drive to Jonkershoek. As I was driving into Jonkershoek, my eye caught a side road. I took it, only to find a camp with three horses. Now those of you that knows me, know tat I love horses. I stopped and just started shooting away. Lucky for me, the horses also played along fairly well.

So what started as a trip for some Wineland landscapes, ended as a few moments with one of the loveliest animals on earth. Here are some of the shots. Enjoy!!

PS. If any of you know of a good spot for some land or seascapes around Cape Town, please let me know. Thanks!
